more or less

After some time I decided to make CP of e-volved.org a bit more pleasant.
It’s clean as I would like my kitchen to be, all the time.
I used to fix computers, both hardware and software.
I was getting a lot of calls from people who couldn’t do this or that, or computer didn’t show any sign of life anymore, or such… So i was repairing computers many years, with 99% success.
But, since sometime last year I started barking at anyone who called me for repair services.
Why?
First: No one realizes the risk I am taking while doing this. If I make mistake, I would be held responsible. I am repairing things that no Customer Support does.
Second: No one understands that when I fix something that was troublesome, it’s not my responsibility if another (newly installed) “The registry cleaner” don’t work as expected. I cannot control what users do after computer is saved. And some of them came also to complain after browsing adult sites (!).
Third: No one cares if you are on vacation, or it’s after hours, or when you tell them you are busy. It seems it doesn’t matter what do you set as professional rule, as your schedule; If they are frustrated, why shouldn’t they take it on you?
Fourth: They couldn’t handle computer. It’s not their fault! They are smart, normal people. It must be the fault of manufacturer, or help desk, or neighbor, or - somebody! Someone must pay for their frustration!
Fifth: I want to be payed for my work. They agree. But after job has been done, and some other problem appear, they think new intervention should be included in the price they already payed, previously. Well, it doesn’t work that way, my friend.
(I will certainly add more later, if and when I get annoyed either by mere memory of it, or new issues…)
I have promised to myself I will not talk about politics. And I won’t! Here is just a subject so that you can discuss, and think about:
